Working Group on U.S. RMB Trading and Clearing Hosts “Navigating China’s New Normal” Webinar

On May 19, 2020, the Working Group on U.S. RMB Trading and Clearing hosted a virtual meeting for members of the Working Group and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s CFO Advisory Council.

Mary Schapiro, Vice Chair of the Working Group, provided opening comments and reiterated the Working Group’s commitment to educating the U.S. marketplace on RMB internationalization.

Stephen Jonathan with Bloomberg provided updates on monetary and fiscal responses by the U.S. and China to the pandemic and RMB internationalization.

Dr. Kurt M. Campbell and Ambassador Richard Verma, both with The Asia Group, presented “The Race to Recovery:  Asia’s Reopening in a Post-Virus World” in which they provided their perspectives regarding China’s current focus and actions taken, U.S.-China relations, and regional responses in Asia.

Attendees were then given the opportunity to ask questions prior to concluding the meeting.
